Project: Acoustic Air-flake Room Dividers

The facilities team at Vauxhall General Motors were having a major refurbishment in one of their large open offices and required a good and effective acoustic solution to reduce the noise that such a large room can create with many people working within.

The refurbished area was going to be very modern, bright and fresh and after looking at various acoustic alternatives from ceiling baffles, to screening and partitioning they decided upon the very modern and innovative air-flake panel design.

The air-flake panel is a sound absorbing screen made from moulded fibre felt. The modular system is built around the shape of a hexagon in a variety of designs and colours which can be freely combined to create a screen. The air-flake is fixed to an aluminium rail for mounting on the wall or ceiling. There are 5 colours and 4 patterns to choose from and the facilities team decided upon the bright and contemporary combination of White and Green flakes. Not only has this produced the client with a significant reduced noise solution but is also a highly attractive option as the air-flake look very attractive when situated in a work space.
